Correcting wrinkles with hyaluronic acid is a minimally invasive procedure, during which an aesthetic doctor at Arcadia Clinic Krakow injects the preparation under the skin, into the deep layers of the skin.
Treatment with hyaluronic acid or hyaluronic acid-based products to remove, or reduce wrinkles, is a quick and minimally invasive procedure that reduces the visibility or removes even advanced signs of skin ageing. Hyaluronic acid wrinkle filling treatment can be performed around the lips, eyes or nasolabial furrows, among others. The effects of the treatment are visible immediately and will last for up to 12 months on average.
With a wide range of cosmetic treatments using state-of-the-art Hi-Tech equipment, we offer a range of non-invasive and completely safe treatments to reduce or diminish the appearance of wrinkles in the facial area.
At our Arcadia Clinic aesthetic medicine and cosmetology clinic, we use: thermolifting, laser therapy, GENEO® skincare treatment, LPG endermology, acoustic wave or RF micro-needling to reduce or reduce the visibility of facial wrinkles.
Wrinkles on the face and neck occur as a result of the skin’s ageing process and take the form of folds, furrows or lines, which are the result of skin depressions and deformities. Wrinkles usually appear where the subcutaneous tissue is thin, such as on the face, neck and décolleté.
The formation of wrinkles on the face is primarily related to:
– The process of sagging and loss of skin firmness due to loss of collagen and skin elasticity due to the natural ageing process or external factors.
– Dryness of the skin, which occurs due to reduced production of the body’s natural hyaluronic acid, which has the ability to bind water and is responsible for the skin’s elasticity and smoothness.
– Reduced sebaceous and sweat gland activity and lower lipid content in the hydrophilic barrier structure, so the skin becomes dehydrated more quickly and wrinkles appear on its surface.
External and internal factors such as genetics, intensive lifestyle and stress, the effects of UV rays, gravity or skin care have a real impact on where wrinkles appear on the skin, their number and how they are arranged.
Thefirst changes of facial wrinkles can be observed as early as around 25 years of age, when the first changes in the character of mimic wrinkles can be marked in the corners of the eyes, which can occur in the form of shallow lines. In addition, some people with rich facial expressions may develop lines between the eyebrows, the so-called lion’s wrinkle, or shallow horizontal lines on the forehead. The fine changes may fade when the muscle responsible for its formation is not working.
Later, around the age of 30 to 40, fine lines start to become more solidified and changes become apparent as a result of the slow drooping and sagging of tissues, e.g. in the area of the nasolabial furrow or the corner of the eyes and under the lower eyelid.
Around the age of 50, when the production of collagen and elastin in the skin slows down considerably and the subcutaneous tissue loses volume and begins to droop, the face may show excess skin in the jaw area (so-called ‘hamsters’), deep nasolabial furrows, marionette furrows, i.e. characteristic folds that form at the junction of the cheeks and chin.
Above the age of 60, the skin becomes thinner and the subcutaneous tissues atrophy, resulting in the appearance of atrophic and gravity wrinkles, which are related to the loss of fat padding in the face and the drooping of the cheeks. At this time, the valley of tears is accentuated and smoker’s wrinkles around the eyes are perpetuated.

Facial wrinkles are caused by intense facial muscles related to facial expression, skin quality and lifestyle. They most often appear in people aged 25-30. In their first stage, they are dynamic in nature, that is, they disappear when the muscles relax. Mimic wrinkles most often appear in the forehead area (e.g. horizontal lines on the forehead or the lion’s wrinkle), around the eyes in the form of ‘crow’s feet’ or in the form of smoker’s wrinkles.
Gravity wrinkles are associated with the ageing process and the reduced amount of natural collagen and elastin produced in the skin, in which case the tissues lose their support and droop. They most commonly appear in people aged around 40-45 years. Gravity wrinkles are much deeper than facial wrinkles. They most often appear in the form of deep nasolabial furrows, cheek wrinkles or linear furrows running from the corner of the mouth downwards, or marionette lines.
Post-sun wrinkles are caused by overexposure of the skin to the sun, which damages the collagen structure and dries the skin. They most often take the form of a mesh of fine lines across the surface of the skin and can occur with hyperpigmentation.
Sleeping wrinkles are formed by the skin creasing during sleep. They are most often irregular in nature, i.e. they may only occur on one side of the face (e.g. forehead, cheek or ear) in the form of vertical or diagonal changes.
Atrophic wrinkles are associated with tissue atrophy, when the dermal-epidermal boundary flattens and the transport of nutrients in the body slows down significantly. The appearance of atrophic wrinkles is also related to the drop in estrogen levels during the peri-menopausal period. During this process, the skin becomes thinner, loses its natural elasticity and flexibility and the fat pad disappears, which can result in, among other things: sunken cheeks (i.e. the appearance of so-called “hamsters”) and on the outer layer of the skin, pronounced hollows, furrows and lines appear, which can become permanent in a short time.
Elastotic wrinkles occur as a result of overexposure of the skin to the sun, so that the production of elastin fibres in the skin is disrupted. They appear as deep and large lesions, in the form of a crease, deformity, thickening or unevenness on the skin of the cheeks, décolleté, neck or hands.
Smoker’s wrinkles do not only affect people who smoke nicotine products. They are formed in the mouth area due to excessive activity of the lip circular muscle and manifest themselves in the form of vertical lines running around the mouth, most often around the upper lip.
Crow’s feet are fine facial wrinkles that appear at the outer thumb of the eyes. They are formed due to the natural ageing process in the skin and excessive facial expressions, such as when laughing.
Marionette wrinkles (or marionette furrows) are characteristic folds that form at the junction of the cheeks and chin due to a loss of volume in the subcutaneous tissue. The tendency to this type of wrinkle is usually hereditary and genes are responsible, but also facial structure or large fluctuations in weight over a short period of time.
A lion’s wrinkle is a vertical furrow that appears between the eyebrows and is facial in nature. It is one of the first signs of skin ageing and can appear around the age of 30. At first, the change is not visible and disappears when the eyebrows return to their natural alignment. However, over time it can become permanent, forming a deep furrow.
Nasolabial furrows are vertical furrows running from the corners of the mouth to the area around the wings of the nose. They are formed due to gravity, sagging of the skin and subcutaneous tissue and loss of firmness or collagen and elasticity of the skin. Enhancement of the nasolabial furrow is associated with loss of cheek volume and gradual drooping of the cheek, which leads to the formation of so-called ‘hamsters’. The result is a deepened and accentuated flexion line.
Rabbit wrinkles are caused by frequent nighttime creasing and are located on the sides of the nose.
